Farmer bonded for offensive conduct, threat of harm

Akim Oda (E/R), Sept. 7, GNA – Amma Ntriwa, a 38-year-old farmer who uttered abusive language and threatened to kill her cousin, Madam Grace Darko, has been bonded by the Akim Oda Magistrate Court to be of good behaviour for six months.

In default, Ntriwa, alias Amma Boto, would serve a six-month prison term in hard labour.

She pleaded guilty with explanation

Briefing the court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor, the prosecution stated that the complainant, Madam Darko is a seamstress and a cousin to Amma Boto and that both of them live in a family house at Akim Swedru.

Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Kwadwo Ahenkorah told the court that on August 14 this year, Madam Darko arrived from Accra to visit her indisposed mother and the following day Madam Darko realized that her cousin’s child had littered the compound with refuse so she cautioned her.

The prosecutor further stated that on August 16, at about 0600 hours the child again littered the place and as a result, the complainant confronted the child’s mother which led to a misunderstanding between the cousins.

Detective Chief Inspector Ahenkorah confirmed that Amma Boto used the words “Dirty Woman”, to the annoyance of Madam Darko, and that those words were also used with intent to provoke a breach of the peace.

Detective Chief Inspector Ahenkorah said Boto again stated: “If you only came to disturb my family, then you will not return to Accra again, I will kill you within a week”, with intent to put the complainant into fear of harm.

According to him, Boto not satisfied, joined her fiancé and they rained insults on Madam Darko who later reported the matter to the police.
