The Enchi District Magistrate court has sentenced a farmer to 12 months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing four fowls valued at GH?200.00.

The convict, Patrick Akuoko, 23, was charged for unlawful entry and stealing.

He pleaded guilty to both counts and the presiding judge Mr. Eric Baah Boateng convicted him on his own plea.

Akuoko, has recently appeared before the same court for stealing turkeys of which the court ordered him to sign a bond to be of good behavior for 12 months but he defaulted.

Prosecuting, Police Detective Sergeant Joseph Kwadwo Agyare, told the court that the complainant Nana Yaw Bimpong, a farmer lives at Karlo and the convict a resident of Gyampokrom, both in the Suaman District.

According to the Prosecution, on April 19, 2019, the complainant visited his cottage farm in Karlo and discovered that thieves had broken into it and stolen four fowls valued GH?200.00.

He said the complainant then informed the local community radio operators to announce in Karlo and Gyampokrom of his missing fowls.

The Prosecution said on the same day, the complainant received information from one Nana Chamme in Gyampokrom that Akuoko had been arrested with four fowls of which they believed were stolen.

He said the complainant proceeded to Gyampokrom and identified the fowls as his.

The Prosecution said Akuoko was handed over to the Dadieso Police where he confessed that on April 18, 2019, at about 2030 hours, he unlawfully entered the complainant's cottage farm and stole the four fowls.

The prosecution said after investigations he was charged with the offence.
