Farmer defiles primary pupil

Hohoe, Sept 3, GNA - Kwame Wurenja, 24, farmer of Derdon near Chindere in the Krachie West district has been jailed seven years by a Hohoe circuit court for defiling an eight-year-old primary pupil.

Wurenja pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement.

A medical report tendered in court indicates victim’s hymen was torn, discharged offensive pus from her private part and suffered severe abdominal pains.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr Ben Dadzie, prosecuting narrated that Wurenja took advantage of the absence of the parents of the victim, lured her into a friend’s room and forcibly sexually abused her on August 12, last year.

He said convict warned victim of dire consequences including beating if she divulged her ordeal to a third party.

Mr Dadzie said victim heeded to the warning until her mother questioned the unusual body movement and behavior, where she mentioned Wurenja as having defiled her on two other occasions.

Wurenja admitted the crime in his caution statement to the Police and was subsequently arraigned.
