Assin Fosu (C/R), Oct. 24, GNA - A 36 year old farmer from Assin Bereku who insulted a police officer for 'disciplining' her daughter for playing truant, and bit the finger of someone, who tried to intervene, was on Friday fined 3.4 million cedis by a district magistrate court at Assin Fosu.
Naomi Amuamah, who pleaded guilty to causing harm will go to jail for eleven months if she fails to pay the fine.
Passing sentence, Mr. Joseph Blay, the presiding magistrate said the convict "had a bad character and had to be disciplined to ensure that the community learns from her misdemeanour."
The prosecution told the court that sometime last month, the station officer in-charge of the Assin Bereku police station, chief inspector John Bekoe, 'arrested' a 10-year-old girl for allegedly playing truant from school.
It said Amuamah rushed to the police station when she heard the story and hurled insults at chief inspector Bekoe, and fought and bit the right middle finger of one Madam Yaa Boaduaa, who tried to intervene.
