Joel Dadzie, a farmer, was on Wednesday granted bail in the sum of GHc10,000 with two sureties by a Takoradi circuit court, for allegedly causing harm to an electrician.
The accused pleaded guilty to the offence and would re-appear in court on May 2, 2013.
Prosecuting, Inspector Seth Ahelegbe told the court presided over by Mr. Charles Bamfo Nimako that, John Amoah and Dadzie both reside at Assakae, near Takoradi.
He said on Feburary 19, this year, about 1630 hours, Amoah contracted Dadzie to weed his farmland at Assakae and offered to pay him GHc20.00 on completion.
The prosecutor said Amoah made an advance payment of GHc6.00 to Dadzie and provided a cutlass for him to execute the work.
The prosecution said the complainant later added an extra portion of land to the already agreed one for the accused to weed.
Inspector Ahelegbe said when Dadzie completed the work, Amoah inspected the farmland and paid the difference of GHc14.00 to him, but Dadzie rejected the amount and demanded more for the additional job he did.
He said a misunderstanding ensued between them, resulting into a brawl, during which Amoah (the complainant) allegedly injured Dadzie’s right wrist with a cutlass.
The prosecution stated that Dadzie also allegedly took the cutlass and inflicted wounds on Amoah’s left arm and wrist.
He said Amoah reported the incident to the police and Dadzie was arrested.
The prosecutor said both Dadzie and Amoah were issued with Police medical forms to go to the hospital for treatment.
After police investigations, Dadzie was arraigned before court for prosecution.
