Farmer jailed two years for defrauding

A 24-year-old farmer at Dahomey, a farming community in the Atwima-Mponua District, who tricked a cocoa purchasing clerk and succeeded in duping him of GH¢948.00, has been jailed for two years.

Kwaku Agyemang took the money under the pretext of supplying the purchasing clerk, Robert Sako with dried cocoa beans but failed and went into hiding. He pleaded guilty to the charge of defrauding by false pretence and the Nyinahin Magistrate Court, presided over by Mr Sam Nibi, sentenced him accordingly.

Police Inspector Sampson Cobbina told the court that the crime was committed in December 2012.

The convict after collecting the money was not seen again until January 30, this year when he was arrested from his hideout by the Police.

He was granted Police inquiry bail, which he jumped, and was re-arrested on April 21.
