Farmer pays GH¢500 for stealing 25 fowls

Akim Oda (E/R), Nov 23, GNA - The Akim Oda Magistrate Court in the Birim Central Municipality, has fined Kwaku Braimah, a farmer, GH¢200 a= nd another GH¢300 as compensation to Madam Esi Aladiwa for stealing her 25=

fowls. Braimah who pleaded guilty to stealing would serve 18 months imprisonment in default. Three of his accomplices are on the run. Briefing the court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor; Police Ch= ief Inspector Kwadwo Ahenkorah said both Madam Esi and Braimah live at Kwaben= a Nyarko village near Akim Akroso. He said Madam Esi had been detecting the theft of her livestock. In March, this year Madam Esi who lost her husband, travelled to Acc= ra for the funeral rites living behind 30 fowls. Chief Inspector Ahenkorah explained that Braimah took advantage of t= he woman's absence and planned with the three accomplices to steal 25 fowls valued at GH¢375. He said on October 22, Madam Esi who returned from her journey to th= e village detected the crime and carried out an investigation, which reveal= ed that it was the accused and the accomplices who stole the birds. She made a report to the police and the accused was arrested.
