Father charged with threatening mother

Asamankese (E/R), July 28, GNA - A 46-year-old farmer, Kwabena Bronya, has appeared before the Asamankese Circuit Court for allegedly threatening his mother with death.

He pleaded not guilty and was granted five million cedis bail with one surety to re-appear on August 28.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Joseph Idan told the court that Bronya, who lived in the same house with the mother, Madam Adwoa Kuma, at Adiembra village, returned home from the farm about 20.00 hours on July 18 in a drunken mood.

He said the accused, without any provocation, began pouring insults on his mother, calling her a "foolish woman". The prosecution said Bronya then threatened to butcher her with a cutlass and the mother, fearing for her life, ran to the police station to lodge a complaint and he was arrested.
