Ho, July 22, GNA - Mr Kenneth Asamoah, father of two teenage girls allegedly defiled at the Vakpo Police Station last year, has expressed doubts about the neutrality of the police in prosecuting the case. Mr Asamoah alleged that the police prosecutor had approached him to have the case settled out of court "on the grounds that it will disgrace the Police Service". "In view of the above, I am appealing that the case is taken over from the police prosecutor".
These were in a petition to the Attorney General's Department in Ho with copies to the Minister of Women and Children's Ministry, some human rights and gender related institutions. Mr Asamoah alleged that the police were deliberately delaying the prosecution of the defilement case "whilst speeding up my trial in the case of extortion levelled against me by the father of one of the suspects."
He said those who defiled his daughters were being treated as juveniles even though records in the schools they attended showed that they were born in 1987 and 1990. 22 July 2009
