year old security man who inflicted blade wounds on his 14 year old daughter’s fingers and smeared powdered pepper on the wounds on Thursday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.
James Devine Francs is said to have accused the victim of stealing his biscuits.
Francs who is being held for physical abuse and causing harm has pleaded not guilty.
The court presided over by Mrs Rita Agyeman Budu has remanded Francs into prison custody to reappear on November 27.
Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarah Acquah said the complainant was the victim’s uncle. The victim is a Junior High Student who resides at Adabraka with the accused person.
ASP Acquah said Francs has been accusing the victim of stealing biscuits.
According to the prosecutor, on November 6, this year, at about 5:00 am, the accused person returned from work and called the victim into his room accusing her of stealing his biscuits.
Prosecution said Francs assaulted the victim, cut the victim’s finger tips with blade and smeared the wounds with powered pepper.
ASP Acquah said the victim’s step mother who could not stand the pain the victim was going through went to the complainant to come to the victim’s rescue.
Prosecution said the complainant reported the matter to the Adabraka Police who arrested Francs and the matter was referred to the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit.
Franc in his cautioned statement admitted the offence.
