Kwabena Amakye, a 40-year-old fisherman, who on Sunday, April 22 set six children ablaze at Moree for disturbing him while asleep, was on Wednesday remanded in prison custody by a magistrate’s court in Cape Coast.
Amakye’s plea was not taken because the prosecution demanded more time to complete its investigations.
The presiding judge, Mr. Kwame Ohemeng-Mensah, therefore, adjourned the case to Wednesday, May 16.
Amakye, who was calm and looked remorseful when he appeared in court, was arrested last Monday dawn from his hide out at the Cape Coast Castle area.
He had bolted after throwing an improvised explosive devise of fuel and pieces of cement paper in plastic container at six children, who were playing behind his house while he was asleep, resulting in the death of a 10-year-old boy.
Four others sustained severe burns and were being treated at the Central Regional Hospital, whilst the one escaped unhurt.**
