Five persons remanded for chopping off a man’s penis

A Bawku circuit court on Tuesday remanded five persons in police custody for chopping off of a man’s penis for sleeping with another man’s wife.

Moses Teng, 35, and husband to Comfort Tikana, 24, the woman in the centre of the crime, Elisha Awini, 28, Kofi Asampanzi, 30, and Michael Zeog, 25, were charged with conspiracy to commit crime and causing harm.

They are to reappear on September 12. Zeog is at large.

The complainant, Mr James Kalima Baali, 36, a teacher, is alleged to be the boyfriend of Comfort, the wife of Teng.

The complainant and Comfort are both teachers pursuing their top-up Diploma in Basic Education at the Gbewa College of Education.

Sergeant Rapheal Azenyetiga said on August 22 Comfort went home to Tongo to pick her student identity card and called the complainant to lift her to campus from Pusiga.

The complainant and Comfort met at the Pusiga Practicing Primary School and sat there for a while.

He said Comfort’s husband and his friends, Asampnazi, Awini and Zeog attacked the complainant and Teng chopped off his penis.

The prosecution said the victim scream, this drew the attention of some people who came to his aid.

Teng, Awini, Zeog and Comfort fled, but Asampanzi was arrested by a mob who beat him up before the police rescued and took him to the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital where he is on admission.

Asampanzi mentioned the other accomplices during police interrogation, and they were arrested.

The prosecutor said Teng admitted he personally chopped off the penis of the complainant because he was having sexual relations with his wife. © 2013 Grammarly, Inc.
