Four, including a minor arrested over robbery

Four suspected criminals including two juveniles linked to series of robbery attacks in the Kumasi Metropolis have been arrested and being held by the police at Manhyia.

Toffic Ibrahim, 19, Suraj Salim, 18, and the two minors were nabbed between the period of June 21and 26. Police Chief Superintendent Debora Addison-Campbel, the Manhyia Divisional Commander, told a news briefing that Ibrahim together with one of the minors and three others, now on the run, attacked a provision shop owner with knives and pistols at the Affordable House area at Asokore-Mampong on June 21.

They made away with a cash of GH¢86.00 but through the vigilance of the Ayigya Neighbourhood Watch Committee, the minor was apprehended and he gave out Ibrahim. Their other criminal colleagues, however, managed to flee.

Chief Supt Addison-Campbel said the other minor was also arrested after he and other fugitive accomplices allegedly attacked one Yaw Antwi, at Sawaba on June 25, with locally-manufactured pistols and machetes.

They robbed him of his three cellular phones, a modem and inflicted machete wounds on a friend, who was in the company of Antwi at the time.

The minor was later arrested with one of the stolen phones and the Divisional Commander said they would soon be put before court to answer for their crimes. She encouraged the formation of Community Neighbourhood Watch Committees to complement the effort of the police.
