The Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) on Wednesday expressed regret over the death of President John Evans Atta Mills which occurred in Accra Tuesday afternoon.
A release signed by Dr. Henry Herbert Lartey, Acting Chairman and leader of the party, and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said President Mills worked tirelessly to improve the lives of the Ghanaian people.
“He helped to promote economic growth in Ghana in the midst of challenging global circumstances and strengthened Ghana’s tradition of democracy,” the release said, and praised the departed leader for the promotion of good governance in the country.
It added that President Mills was a strong advocate for human rights and for the fair treatment of all Ghanaians.
“On behalf of the entire membership of the GCPP, I would like to offer my deepest condolences to his family and the NDC,” the release stated.**
