Ejisu (Ash), Dec. 10, GNA - An 18-year-old boy, Issifu Kusase has been remanded by the Ejisu District Court to pay one million cedis or face a prison sentence of six months with hard labour for stealing two goats at Abetenim near Juaben in the Ashanti Region.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Geshon Kobla Torsu of Juaben Police Station said Mr Kwabena Amponsah, a farmer and owner of the goats reported to the police that he woke up at dawn on Monday to realise that two of his goats have been stolen from his pen at Abetenim. He therefore informed the people in the town who assisted him to mount a search for the animals and they later found one of the animals at a slaughterhouse at Juaben.
The Prosecutor said upon investigations, it was disclosed that it was Issifu Kusase who went to sell the animal. Later the people found the other animal tied to a tree near the Juaben-Ejisu road. Chief Inspector Torsu said the people brought the animals to the Juaben Police and reported the case upon which the culprit was arrested and put before court.
Giving the judgement, Miss Joyce Bamfo, the Ejisu District Court Judge, asked the accused why he stole the animals. Issifu replied that it was the devil, which made him act that way. He, however, could not answer further question by the Judge as to whether he (accused) had ever come into conct with the devil.
