A 57-year-old gun professional blacksmith has been arrested by the Eastern Regional Police Command.
Yaw Bediako was nabbed at his residence at Bosumtwi near Boti following a tip-off on Saturday while he was putting finishing touches to some of the guns.
The police retrieved three live cartridges, one spent cartridge shell, single and double barrel guns, locally made pistols, two others which were being constructed, a hammer, machete, quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp (Weed) and other implements and gun manufacturing accessories.
Bediako is said to have supplied several weapons to most armed robbers in the region and beyond.
He has since been cautioned by the police and would be put before court while investigation into his illegal activities continues.
The Regional Crime Officer C/Supt. Edward Fakye Kumi, who confirmed the arrest to DAILY GUIDE, thanked the public for assisting the police in gathering intelligence.
He urged the public to keep faith with the police and always report activities of suspicious persons and criminals.
This, according to him, was the only way to clamp down on the activities of criminals and reduce crime to its barest minimum in the region and the country at large.
