Hohoe, Oct. 5, GNA - A Hohoe Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of three persons for their failure to attend court for various motor traffic offences.
They are Kwasi Attah Foster, Mawuli Dumenu and Agbo Zogla. Their charges ranged from riding motor bikes without license, the absence of insurance cover, riding without crash helmet, carrying more than the officially approved number of persons, use of motor bike for commercial purposes, failure to provide proper seating and ignoring Police signal to stop.
They are expected to appear in court as soon as they are apprehended. Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ben Dadzie narrated that service personnel from the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) embarked on an exercise to clampdown on recalcitrant motorcycle riders who resorted to unlawful behavior in the Hohoe Municipality, including the use of their bikes for commercial purposes. He said Foster, Dumenu and Zogla, who all owned motor bikes failed to produce the aforementioned documents and riding gadgets leading to their arrest and prosecution.
ASP Dadzie said the three, having fore-knowledge of the court summons, failed to appear in court thereby prompting Mr Samuel Solomon, Presiding Judge, to issue bench warrants for their immediate arrest. Meanwhile, Daniel Goli has been remanded into Police custody by the same court for similar motor traffic offences.
Apart from riding without license, insurance cover and crush helmet an= d the use of his motorcycle for commercial purpose, Goli also carried three pillions on his motor. According to ASP Dadzie, Goli would re-appear in court on October 13, for hearing. The Presiding Judge pledged to co-operate with the Police in the exercise and urged them to be professional and upright.
