Tema, Jan. 27, GNA - The Tema Circuit Court "A" has remanded into police custody a 24-year-old driver's mate for stealing.
Kwesi Minsah, from Nkwantanang, near Kade pleaded guilty with explanation that he stole only 200,000 cedis from the storekeeper and the alleged 15 million cedis. But the court entered a plea of not guilty for the accused and remanded him to reappear on February 2, 2005.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Sarah Aggrey Acquah told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that, on December 21, 2004, the accused arrived from Nkwantanang to seek greener pastures in Tema.
In course of his adventurism, he met a witness from his hometown who sent him to the complainant, who hails from Kade and in the course of their introduction; it came to light that the accused is a cousin to the complainant.
Chief Inspector Acquah said the complainant therefore, asked the accused to take charge of his provision store at site 19 opposite Casino at Community One.
She said on December 24, 2004, the accused took advantage of the absence of the complainant and stole 15 million cedis being 'susu' money, which he had collected from his clients, adding, when the accused took the money, he bolted to Nkwantanang and went into hiding.
In the first week of January 2005, the accused was arrested by the Akwatia police and transferred to the Tema police and after investigations, he was charged with the offence.
