Accra, April 15, GNA - An 18 year-old man, Michael Nuamenyo, who posed as a student of Legon Hall of University of Ghana, was on Tuesday arrested by the Head of Security of the University of Ghana, ACP Amadu Salifu (rtd). Nuamenyo, according to Mr Salifu, had been sleeping in the Hall for the past six years without authorization.
He told the GNA that a bicycle belonging to a cleaner, Mr Sammy Issaka disappeared from the Hall and Nuamenyo was suspected and interrogated by the owner who discovered that he was not a student. Mr Salifu said the University security was alerted and during interrogation it was discovered Nuamenyo was not a resident student but an intruder who had lived in Legon Hall for the past six years.
When Nuamenyo was searched by the Legon Security, 11 keys were found on him which he claimed he found on the floor of the Hall. He could not explain how he was accommodated in the Hall. Some of the keys could open the toilets of "G" Block in the Hall. According to reports from the Legon Security, the Legon Hall Accounts Office had been burgled three times between March and April 2008.
ACP Amadu Salifu said investigations would be conducted and Nuamenyo would be handed over to the Legon Police for further investigation. Meanwhile, the bicycle has still not been found.
