Kumasi, Feb 11, GNA - A 54-year-old internet caf=E9 operator in Kumasi h= as been arrested by the police for duping six people to the tune of GH¢95,850.00 under the pretext of securing Canadian visa for them. Kingsley Ntiamoah, a resident of Buokrom, Kumasi, collected between GH¢6,500.00 and GH¢12,000.00 from his victims. Police Chief Inspector Mohammed Tanko of the Ashanti Regional Police Pub= lic Relations Office told newsmen that the suspect went into hiding at Kwaman= , near Offinso, after taking the money.
Ntiamoah tricked the victims into believing that he was in neighbouri= ng Cote d'Ivoire, anytime they managed to reach him on his cell phone. Police Chief Inspector Tanko said his arrest followed a tip off and t= hat a search conducted in his room uncovered 55 fake passports and an Austral= ian medical form. The Kumasi Central Police Station has been inundated with complaints by people he had swindled. Already 36 of such victims had been to the station after his arrest, claiming Ntiamoah took various amounts from them with the promise of gett= ing them visa to travel to Europe.
