Italian killer grabbed

The Police have arrested 65-year-old Italian Serradura Luigi, a boyfriend of Bellunator Egle for allegedly killing the latter at their Amasaman residence on October 29, 2013.

The suspect, currently on remand at the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons, was said to have used a sharp knife to stab his lover in the neck several times after which he locked her remains in the bedroom before leaving the house that fateful day.

Reports said the Italian stabbed the woman, who was a widow, to death apparently because she had refused to include him in her Will.

The deceased Ms. Egle, aged 70, was found brutally murdered at Damas 2 Estate, Kuntunse, close to the DVLA Testing office near Amasaman in the Ga West District of Accra.

The suspect allegedly scattered the deceased’s personal items all over the bedroom to make it look like robbers had attacked and killed her.

At the time of her death, he stood over the dead body, made a sign of the cross and pressed his hand over her forehead as if in prayer, apparently to mislead the security agents.

The Police were tight-lipped on the issue. However, ASP Joseph Benefo Darkwah, Public Affairs Officer of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), confirmed the arrest of Luigi but said the matter was still under investigations.

Mr. Luigi had been remanded by an Accra Magistrate Court to reappear at a later date.

Bloody Clothes

Information gathered by DAILY GUIDE indicated that Mr. Luigi, who was not legally married to the deceased, was co-habiting with her for almost five years.

Sources said the couple had a cleaner, name withheld, who lived far from the area, but who always came to tidy up the house as and when her services were needed.

Anytime the couple wanted the services of the cleaner, they called her on phone in the morning and when she got to Kuntunse junction, which was far from the house, Mr. Luigi would then pick her up to the house.

On that fateful day, when the cleaner reached Kuntunse junction and called the suspect on phone to come over and pick her up, he reportedly told her to walk to the house since the deceased was there, adding that he was on his way to Nsawam.

When the cleaner finally reached the house, she realized that the main door was locked and after several unanswered knocks, she started cleaning the compound while waiting for the door to be opened.

When Mr Luigi returned, he also acknowledged that the main door was locked so they both sat in the corridor and waited.

Later, Luigi claimed he saw the keys wrapped in a piece of cloth and opened the door.

When the two entered the house, they saw the gory figure of Bellunator lying in a pool of blood, with a shocked demeanour on her face as well as several cuts in her throat.

The source said the police later found a jacket belonging to Mr Luigi with blood stains in it and soaked in a bucket of water that same day.

Some residents who spoke to DAILY GUIDE at the scene also said they never saw any person visiting the couple that fateful day.

“No armed robber will attack a house, kill a person and get time to soak bloody clothes and lock doors before leaving,” one resident opined.

Others also said the deceased was very friendly and had no enemies who would wish to kill her in such a gruesome manner.

Meanwhile, DAILY GUIDE has gathered that the deceased was a rich widow who decided to resettle in Ghana and engage in charity work after the death of her husband in Italy.

The deceased owned the house and some vehicles in the area while the suspect, Mr. Luigi, is a married man whose wife and children live in Italy and were benefiting from the largesse of the deceased.

The suspect, according to information, tried to compel the deceased to include his name in her Will, but she declined.
