Ivorian Customs seizes 850 kg of drugs smuggled from Ghana

Custom Officials in Côte d'Ivoire have impounded 850.5 kg of Non-Registered Pharmaceutical Products (NRPP) carefully concealed in a vehicle carrying tubers of cassava to Abidjan from Ghana.

The officials seized the consignment at the Noe border shared by the two West African countries.

Information gathered by ClassFMonline.com indicates that the parcels were smuggled overnight across the Tano River from Ghana.

The driver of the vehicle abandoned the truck and ran into the forest when he was ambushed by customs officials.

The NRPP are composed of antibiotics, syrups, vitamins and injection ampoules, among others.
