A self-acclaimed juju-man, Muduki Srie alias “Mallam Issah”, who is accused of swindling two people of GH¢5,100.00 was on Tuesday put before the Bibiani Magistrate Court.
He is charged with fraud and pleaded not guilty to the crime.
The court presided over by Mr. Osei Kofi Amoako remanded him into prison custody to re-appear on July 27.
Chief Inspector Alex Asamoah told the court that the complainants, Mary Pokuaa and Kwame Ampofo are both resident at Sefwi-Asawinso near Bibiani, whiles the accused on the other hand hails from Wa in the Upper West Region.
He said in October last year, one “Abenwoho” introduced Srie to the complainants as someone with magical powers to remove gold treasures hidden underground.
Chief Inspector Asamoah said the complainants became interested and the accused demanded that the said amount of money was paid towards the purchase of certain items for the performance of some esoteric rituals.
He said after collecting the money, Srie put stones into two pots, covered them with pieces of cloth and instructed Mary and Ampofo to place the pots under their beds and thereafter went into hiding whiles the complainants made a formal report to the police.
Chief Inspector Asamoah said the accused run out of luck when his attempt to dupe other unsuspecting people at Tafo-Pankrono in Kumasi, failed and he was arrested.
He was later transferred from Kumasi to Bibiani to answer for his crime.**
