A 25-year-old lady, Binah Rejoice Obaayaa, has been arrested by the Suhum Police Command for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.

Reports say the victim was on her way to sell when Obaayaa called her and asked her to follow her to her room.

The victim followed her and on reaching the room, Obaayaa gave her mobile phone to her to play games with the phone.

According to the victim, after some time, Obaayaa pushed her onto the bed, covered her mouth with her hand and forcibly sucked her breasts and fingered her.

The victim disclosed she resisted and called for help but there was nobody around to rescue her.

She (victim) was later sent to the Suhum Government Hospital and a complaint was lodged against Obaayaa at the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Suhum.

The victim went with her mother to the accuser’s house and identified her as the perpetrator. Obaayaa was subsequently arrested and in her caution statement admitted having committed the offence.

Accra FM's regional correspondent, Kofi Michel, reports that the victim’s father pleaded with the police to grant Obaayaa a police bail so that the matter can be settled amicably between the families because he, the father, is a former boyfriend of Obaayaa’s mother.

The victim’s mother is demanding a compensation of GH¢3000 for her child but her husband wants the matter to be discontinued.

The victim’s mother has therefore appealed to Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to intervene and allow justice to prevail.
