A lotto writer, Gideon Yaw Nutekpor who allegedly lured a 13 year girl into his room, defiled her and locked her under his bed till she became unconscious has been charged with defilement.
The suspect was arrested after he returned home and found the victim unconscious and raised an alarm claiming he didn’t know how the suspect entered his room.
Nutekpor appeared before an Accra Circuit Court presided over by Mrs. Patience Quansah and charged with defilement of a girl under the age of sixteen.
He denied the offence but was remanded in police custody and the case adjourned to September 3, 2015.
Narrating the events leading to the arrest of the suspect, the prosecuting officer Inspector Grace Bandoh said the father of the victim is the complainant and a resident of Kpobikope near Amasaman while the suspect is a lotto writer and lives in the same vicinity.
According to her, on August 10, 2015 at about 12 am the accused person called the victim and lured her into his room and defiled her.
She said Nutekpor after the act, forced the victim under his bed, locked the door and went out. On his return he found the victim unconscious and all his attempts to revive her failed.
The police officer noted that the lotto writer finally raised an alarm claiming that he came out and found someone under his bed so his neighbours rushed and carried the victim out of the room and informed her father about her condition.
She said the little girl was rushed to the Amasaman Government Hospital and was treated and when she regained consciousness, she narrated her ordeal to her parents.
She affirmed that the medical doctor who treated her also confirmed that the victim had been defiled so a complaint was lodged with the police leading to the arrest of the suspect who denied the offence.
The police officer said the suspect was arraigned after police concluded investigations.
