Madina Police arrest criminals

The Madina Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police, Mr. Natogmah Aggrey Yakubu, leading 30 policemen, on Monday morning carried out a swoop within its Command and arrested 25 criminals from their hide-outs.

The criminals arrested with large quantities of narcotics, were aged between 19 and 45 years.

The Police impounded 18 parcels of leaves suspected to be marijuana, nine mobile-phones, 16 big plastic containers filled with fuel, a quantity of hard liquor and soft drinks, including crates of beer.

There were also cream toffees prepared out of marijuana and several leaves wrapped in pieces of cement papers, suspected to be marijuana.

Speaking to the Press, C/Supt. Yakubu said the Command, upon instructions from the Police hierarchy, carried out this swoop to flush out the criminals from their hide-outs within the Madina-Kwabenya jurisdiction.

C/Supt Yakubu said during the swoop which began at 6.00am on Monday, a total of 25 criminals made up of 23 males and two females were arrested in areas including Kwabenya Westland, Madina-Jamaica near the Madina Central Market, within the Redco Flats, Nkulenu area and the Ayamba Market all suburbs of Madina.

C/Supt Yakubu warned that the Police was not going to sit down and allow criminals to trade in narcotics within his jurisdiction adding that law-breakers would not be spared.

He gave the assurance that the Police was ready to protect the Constitution of Ghana even at the peril of their lives.

He, therefore, urged the public to be law-abiding.

He said the arrested criminals would be investigated and those found culpable prosecuted

He reminded the public that the exercise would not be a nine-day wonder.

Some Senior Police Officers who took part in the operations included Superintendent Victoria Yamoah, Commander of the Kwabenya Police Station, Superintendent William Boateng of the Madina Police Command, and the Madina District Crime Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police. Happy Michael Addae.
