Man, 45, burnt to death

Aflao (V/R), July 18, GNA - A 45-year-old man identified by family members as Kwaku Dzikpor, alias Dankplodzi, was at the weekend burnt to death at Torwey-Aflao, when fire gutted the room in which he was sleeping.

The Aflao Police detained five people including the deceased's brother Madzra Dzikpor in connection with the incident. A source close to his family told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that Kwaku Dzikpor, who was healed of mental problem years ago, again started to behave abnormally on Saturday, but family members were able to calm him down.

He later retired to bed with a lamp in his single thatched-roof house, which was seen engulfed in flames by a passer-by at dawn on Sunday. The source said the fire could not be controlled and after it burnt out, Dzikpor's charred body was retrieved and has since been buried. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Baba Moro, Aflao Crime Officer confirming the story said no foul play had been detected.
