Man bonded for insulting, threatening to kill lover

Kade, Sept. 20, GNA - Fuseini Ayeru, a labourer who served six months in prison for assaulting his girl friend has made another appearance before the Kade Magistrate Court for insulting and threatening to kill the woman. He pleaded guilty with explanation and was convicted on his own plea and sentenced to execute a bond to be of good behaviour for 12 months or to pay 500 Ghana cedis or serve six months imprisonment in hard labour.

Ayeru was said to have uttered such words as "you prostitute, useless woman" to the annoyance of the complainant and threatened to kill her by words with intent to put her into fear of death. Police Inspector D. T. Nartey, prosecuting, told the court that Ayeru and the complainant had been in a relation for six months. He said during that period the convict bought a Nokia 1600 mobile phone for the woman.

The prosecution said about three weeks ago Ayeru went to the woman's house at night and forcibly demanded the phone back. The woman refused to give the phone back and the next morning, Ayeru went to her house again with a witness to again demand for the item.

At that juncture, the woman insisted that she could not give the phone back since it was a gift given to her during the time of their friendship. Ayeru then rained insults on the woman and again threatened to kill her if she refused to give the item to him.
