The deceased was last Friday gunned down during a gun battle between a team of police officers and the notorious armed robber (Kingsley Owusu), at Asofan, near Ofankor in the Greater Accra Region.
The team according to Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the command, ASP Afia Tenge, had laid ambush at a house at Asofan where, according to police intelligence, the suspect Kingsley Owusu was hiding.
The suspect ASP Tenge said started firing at the police indiscriminately after seeing them. Kingsley Owusu managed to escape arrest and has been declared wanted.
One other officer, Corporal David Anaba who also sustained injuries has been treated and discharged.
Speaking in an interview with Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, ASP Afia Tenge called on the general public to assist them with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.
She said, "A search conducted later in the suspect's room, a big travelling bag containing two pump action guns, two pistols, six live cartridges, a sharp knife, three caps, a reflector and a shirt were seen."
