The Police in Kumasi have launched a manhunt for a 27-year-old Kofi Marfo who allegedly murdered two children suspected to be his at Apemso in the Ashanti region.

The partially decomposed bodies of the two children were discovered in an uncompleted building by residents in the area last Sunday morning.

Assembly member for the area reported the matter to the KNUST Police who moved into the crime scene to pick up the bodies.

Police say the remains were beyond recognition, for which reason that cannot confirm the two children were that of the man who has since vacated his home.

Wife of the man, 26-year-old Faustina Antwiwaa, claims to be the mother of the children and gave their name their names as Elizabeth Pokua, 4 years and two-year-old Kelvin Owusu.

She told the police that she had a marital issue with the husband and moved out to her parents’ home but on September 5, the suspect came for the two children under the pretext of taking them to his mother at Sefwi-Wiawso.

According to the police, Antwiwaa claimed she could not locate the whereabouts of her kids and their father until Sunday when she got information about the discovery of the bodies.

“So far we can’t say the children are that of the woman because they are beyond recognition,” Ashanti regional police PRO, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, told 3news.com.

He urged the public to assist the police find the whereabouts of Marfo to assist in investigations.

“Whoever knows Kofi Marfo is or is if he is hearing us he should also come and assist in investigations” he added.

Meanwhile, the police have entreated residents to be security conscious and report suspicious acts to the police.

The bodies have since been deposited at the KNUST Hospital morgue for autopsy as part of police investigations.
