Mason in court for rape

Tema, July 27, GNA -- Kwadjo Kpoho, a 41-year old mason, has been remanded into prison custody by the Tema Circuit Court 'A' for allegedly raping a 17-year old househelp. His plea was not taken and the case has been adjourned to August 17, this year.

Chief Inspector Adolphus Okyere told the court, presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that on July 18, this year, the services of Kpoho was engaged by the mistress of the victim to do some masonry work at her residence at Kpone barrier, near Tema. He said the next morning when Kpoho reported to start the work, he took advantage of the absence of the mistress and forcibly had sex with the victim when he ordered her to open the door to where his tools has been kept for him.

The victim later reported the case to her mistress who then lodged a complaint at the Police and the accused was arrested and sent to the Women and Juvenile Unit (WAJU), in Tema. According to the prosecutor, Kpoho during interrogation admitted the offence, but said he did not force the girl.
