Mason jailed for threat of death

Accra, June 20, GNA - A 22 year-old Mason, who threatened to kill a 14 year-old girl after defiling her for three days, was on Monday sentenced to seven years' imprisonment with hard labour by a Circuit Court in Accra.

Love Ametordzie pleaded guilty to threat of death. He, however, pleaded not guilty to abduction and defilement. The Prosecutor, Inspector Isaac Ahor said in June this year, Ametordzie bought 6,000 cedis worth of fried yam which the victim was selling and gave her a 20,000-cedi note. The victim told him that she had no change and Ametordzie collected the money and asked her to follow him to his house for a lower denomination.

On reaching the house, Ametordzie entered his room and brought out a dagger and asked the victim to enter his room else he would stab her to death.

The victim had no alternative than to enter the room where Ametordzie forcibly defiled her for three days. He said the victim managed to escape when the accused forgot to lock the door and reported the matter to the Madina Police.
