Kumasi, June 2, GNA - A circuit court at Kumasi on Thursday remanded a 27-year-old mason, for defiling a 14-year old Junior Secondary School (JSS) girl.
Emmanuel Gyasi pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on June 16. Police Chief Inspector John K. Afful told the court presided over by Mr Ernest Yao Obimpeh, that the victim who lived with her mother at Abuakwa in the Atwima District left during the latter part of April to spend her holidays with the grandmother at Aduman.
The accused lived in the same house with the girl's grandmother and one afternoon she and her younger brother went to Gyasi's room to watch television.
The Prosecutor said whilst there, the accused sent the victim's brother to buy him a bottle of Fanta from a spot that was a long distance away from the house. Immediately the young boy left, Gyasi locked the door under key, threw the girl unto his bed and sexually abused her, ignoring pleas from the victim.
Police Chief Inspector Afful said having satisfied his sexual urge, the accused gave the victim 50,000 cedis and warned her not to tell her ordeal to anyone.
The girl later fell sick and told the grandmother her sexual abuse by Gyasi.
A medical report issued by doctors' at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital confirmed that the girl had indeed been defiled.
