A non-Governmental Organisation, Beacon of Hope Foundation has extended support to a victim of defilement.
The 12-year-old girl now 14 years was allegedly defiled and impregnated in May, 2015 by a police officer, Lance Corporal Emmanuel Bartels at Lapaz New Market.
Atinka FM’s Regina Asamoah first broke the story in May 2015 following suspected cover up by the police service.
Atinka News exposure led to the interdiction of the said police officer.
However, till date the police have failed to prosecute the police officer for his crime against the 12-year-old girl.
The girl safely delivered a baby boy last year, but could not go back to school due to her current situation.
Beacon of Hope Foundation, touched by the girl’s plight, have decided to support the girl and her baby .
In an an interview with Atinka FM’s Regina Asamoah, the Assistant Coordinator of Beacon of Hope Foundation, Richardson Dzameshie explained that the Foundation will support the girl and her baby as well as give their support to the family as the case is yet to be prosecuted.
According to Richardson Dzameshie, unlike other NGOs, Beacon of Hope will fulfill their promise to the girl and her baby as every agreement will be documented.
Father of the victim, Mawuenyegah Quashie still hopes for Justice but expressed disgust at how the Police handled the case.
The victim has welcomed the support from the Beacon of Hope Foundation and believes her life story will change. She aspires to be a lawyer so she can help prosecute perpetrators of such heinous crime.
The One-year and four-month old baby seems not to know anything about the plight of her mother. When Atinka Fm’s Regina visited their home, he was seen busily playing.
The teenage mother says she will be the supportive pillar for her baby and will not extend the anger she feels for Lance Corporal Emmanuel Kwamena Bartels onto the baby.
