The Assin Kyekyewere District Court has remanded Ebenezer Dwamena, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Twifo Atti-Morkwa Constituency, into police custody, citinewsroom.com reports.

Dwamena is facing charges of conspiracy to defraud by pretence and false pretence, contrary to section 131 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act 1960, Act 29.

According to the constituency communication officer for the NPP in Twifo Atti-Morkwa, Dwamena introduced some friends to a car dealer after he successfully purchased a vehicle from them.

However, after the car dealer received the payment, he failed to deliver the vehicle, prompting the buyers to take the matter to court.

The presiding judge, Sophia Priscila Yeboa, remanded Dwamena into police custody.

The case has been forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office for further advice.
