Tema, July 19, GNA- A National Service personnel of a private computer company who attempted to steal by inserting ghost name on the payroll of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has been granted 40 million cedis bail by the Tema Circuit Court 'B'.
Christ Hlolewufire pleaded not guilty and will reappear on July 30. Police Chief Inspector Edith Nutakor told the court that on June 16, 2004, an official from the accounts department of the GPHA detected an insertion of a ghost name on the payroll for June.
She said the beneficiary was to cash 1.7 million cedis from the Social Security Bank, Tema, adding that, the GPHA official therefore alerted the bank.
Chief Inspector Nutakor said on July 6, the accused sent Linda Amewoyi to cash the money from the bank, and upon a tip off, the accused was immediately arrested by the police.
