A 41-year old man has been nabbed by the Ashanti Regional Police Command at Gyenyase, a suburb in Kumasi for defrauding an ECG worker to the tune of GH¢25,000 for selling fake documents of a car that belonged to a pharmacist to him.
The suspect Kojo Kwakye a.k.a Biggie was part of fifty suspected criminals lined up on Tuesday in an identification parade.
Briefing journalists, the Deputy Regional Police Commander ACP Ampofo Duku explained that the suspect who claims to be dealing in vehicles have been extorting monies from his victims under the pretext of selling cars to them.
‘On March 13, 2017 about 10:20 am the complainant called the accused person on phone, the accused asked the complainant to meet him at Daaban and that he was buying doors for his personal project, normally negotiations are not done near the vehicle because ultimately they know they are going to swindle you, going to take your money and also if the car belongs to them, move the car away before you get to where the car is parked so negotiations are made at a distance.
So he was told to his surprise that the car belongs to her but had not sold it to anyone, this man rushed to the negotiation place and both men were nowhere to be found,’ he explained.
