A robber who has been on the wanted list of the Ghana Police Service over a series of robbery and attacks on Chinese Mining sites is under lock and key.
The Ashanti regional police command is holding Philip Kwadwo Danso, 28, and his accomplice Kwadwo Asamoah Daniel, 30, after a robbery operation on some Chinese expatriates.
The duo are believed to be among a gang of five in military apparel with guns who launched the operation over the weekend in Obuasi. One of them known as Kwaku Asare was shot and killed when he tried to escape.
The police arrested them Monday, April 24 at Krofrom, a suburb of Kumasi.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ken Yeboah, told the press that the robbers “made away with their (Chinese expatriates) Honda Accord with registration number AC 1534-16, 10 mobile phones, two laptops, a pump action gun and an amount of GHc3000.”
According to the police chief, they were in the stolen car when the arrest was effected, but with a new number plate – DV3536-17.
“The two suspects during interrogation, mentioned one Kwaku Asare, aged 30, as an accomplice who was later arrested at Sofoline a suburb of Kumasi.”
They have since confessed to the crime.
The police also retrieved two pump action guns, two locally made pistols and a live cartridge from Danso’s apartment.
