A fifth suspect has been arrested in a 7-member gang rape scandal that rocked Bantama in the Ashanti region in December last year.
Seven male teenagers were caught on a widely circulated video sexually assaulting a girl.
Four of the suspects arrested by the police are currently facing trail at a juvenile court in Kumasi.
When the suspects appeared in court on Wednesday, 10th January 2018, they were remanded again in a juvenile cell.
They will reappear in court on January 17, 2018.
Lawyer for the juveniles, John Boamah, confirmed the arrest of the fifth person who arrived in court in court with his counsel.
The trial was heard in-camera, but TV3’s Ashanti regional correspondent Ibrahim Abubakar reports that the Asokwa Juvenile court presided over by Peter Oppong Boahen remanded the suspects after the prosecutor pleaded for more time to complete investigations into the case.
This is the fourth time the suspects have appeared before the court and remanded.
Relatives of the suspects thronged the court premises to witness the proceedings and give support to their wards.
