Pastor remanded in visa deal

Accra, Nov. 24, GNA - A 45 year-old Pastor, who took 3,500 dollars from a Church Member under the pretext of securing her an American visa but failed to do so was on Wednesday remanded by an Accra Circuit Court. Jonathan Adams, who was charged with defrauding by false pretence, pleaded not guilty.

Adams is to reappear on December 8.

The case as presented by prosecuting Chief Inspector S.B. Sarfo was that Ms Rosina Anderson, a student and a member of the Besada Church, informed Adams in February of her intention to travel to the US. The Prosecution said Adams promised to assist her with prayers and demanded 3,500 dollars from her to enable him to secure her a visa within three weeks.

Ms Anderson gave Adams the money but he failed to secure her the visa.

The Prosecution said Ms Anderson reported the matter to the Police after several efforts to get collect her money failed. Adams, who admitted the offence, has now refunded 1,000 dollars.
