The Kasoa Division of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) has apprehended 3 persons for conspiring to steal a baby at Kasoa.

According to details of the report by UTV, the mother of the newborn baby, 22-year-old Abigail Addison, who operates her pure water business at the Kasoa New Market, was approached by the first suspect identified as Magdalene Nana Adwoa Boafo.

Magdalene befriended Abigail, who was heavily pregnant, under the guise of helping her and her unborn child.

She paid for Abigail’s two-day stay at a hotel in Kasoa before introducing her to the second suspect identified as Eunice, as per reports.

The two suspects proceeded to rent an apartment for the victim at Lamptey Mills, a suburb of Kasoa.

A week later, while in labour, the victim was taken to the Kasoa Polyclinic by her landlord.

Unsuspecting of their true intentions, Abigail after her delivery called Magdalene and Eunice to inform them of the news.

Later, the two suspects reportedly informed Abigail, the mother of the child, that her baby was ill and needed to be taken to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for medical care by their friend, a nurse named Faustina.

After 2 days of not knowing the whereabouts of the baby, Abigail’s landlord was informed by the suspects that the child had passed away while receiving treatment at the hospital.

The incident was reported to the police, who then launched an investigation.

Subsequently, the three women were arrested at their respective hideouts, and the baby was found and rescued alive.
