The police have apprehended an armed robber and rapist who suffered gunshot wounds in a shoot-out with members of the neighborhood watch-dog committee at Aboabikro in Techiman .
Suleimana Samadu, 28, had been on the Techiman police wanted list for robbery and raping women in the municipality.
Chief Superintendent of Police Joseph Antwi-Gyewu, the Techiman Municipal Police Commander told the Ghana News Agency on Monday that Samadu was arrested on June 9 after an exchange of gunfire with the committee members.
He said during the exchanges the robber slipped into the Church of Pentecost but realizing he could be captured fled to the Holy Family Hospital to seek treatment.
The police commander said the watch dog committee members alerted the police who found the wounded robber at the emergency ward of the hospital receiving treatment and was arrested.
Chief Superintendent Antwi-Gyewu said Samadu was on the wanted list of the police in Techiman for terrorizing, robbing and raping women around Sansama, Aboabikro, Ahenebroanoso, Bluecross, Hausaline and Baptist areas.**
