Police chief promotes sergeant to Chief Inspector

Lambussie, Nov. 6, GNA - Mr Patrick K. Acheampong, Inspector General of Police (IGP), on Saturday promoted Police Sergeant Philip Mensah of the Lambussie Police Station in the Jirapa/Lambussie District to the rank of Chief Inspector for his hard work and for winning the confidence and admiration of the chief and people.

Sergeant Mensah was formerly an Inspector but was demoted to Sergeant and transferred to Lambussie from Wa on disciplinary grounds. However, he had since proved himself a reformed law enforcement officer since his transfer to Lambussie as evidenced in an address read on behalf of the paramount chief of the Lambussie traditional area to welcome the IGP during a visit to the town.

The speech catalogued the crime situation in the area, including cases of armed robberies to which Chief Inspector Mensah was said to have performed creditably in spite of being the only policeman in the town.

The paramount chief, Kuoro Alhaji Iddrisu Bamieh appealed to the police chief to post additional police personnel to the town to help maintain law and order.

He mentioned cattle rustling as a major crime in the area.
