Police command to deal ruthlessly with erring personnel-Commander

Sekondi, May 20, GNA - Mr Kofi Duku-Arthur, the Western Regional Police commander, said on Friday that the Police Administration would deal ruthlessly with any police personnel found to have engaged in illegal operations in the Western Region.

"We will not allow individual excesses, lapses and inefficiencies to tarnish the image of the service,'' he told journalists at a media briefing at Sekondi.

He said the public should be bold to report personnel who go on illegal motor checks, harass passengers, and intimidate civilians for no apparent reason.

Mr Duku-Arthur said one of the major problems facing the service is supervision and urged the public to assist the senior officers to monitor and sanction misbehaving junior staffs.

He said the service, though has been equipped with vehicles and other logistics, still needs more to make its operations effective and timely. Mr Duku-Arthur said the service was using the community, vehicular and motorcycles for its patrols while some personnel move by foot and that lack of some logistics makes it difficult for the service to achieve its objectives.

He appealed to non-governmental organisations, the district assemblies and other philanthropists to come to the aid of the Police to make the region, safe and peaceful.
