Kuntanase (Ash), Jan.11, GNA - The Kuntanase police are looking for one Kwame Atopah, who was alleged to have stabbed Wilfred Adu from Brodekwano in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma district of Ashanti leading to his death a few days later.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency on the incident at Kuntanase on Tuesday, Chief Inspector Edward Osei said on December 20, last year, the deceased and friends from Brodekwano attended a wake-keeping at Asisriwa.
He said at around 0200 the deceased and friends including Akwasi Yeboah decided to return to their village on foot. Chief Inspector Osei said Kwasi Yeboah's girlfriend also decided to accompany them and at the outskirts of Asisriwa, a young man popularly called Kwame Atopah met them and started a fight with Kwasi Yeboah but they were separated.
He said, while walking away, they realised that Yeboah had left his sandals at the scene of the fight and so Adu decided to go back and pick them.
Chief Inspector Osei said Atopah, who was still at the scene of the fight pounced on Adu and stabbed him twice with an implement which could not be identified. He said his colleagues who heard his cry rushed to his rescue and chased Atopah, who run into the bush and disappeared and so they rushed Adu to KATH where he died five days later.
