Ashanti Regional Police has busted a 35-year-old man, Sibi Bay Hussein for allegedly attempting to transport 46 bales of mosquito nets belonging to the Ministry of Health to Burkina Faso.

The nets bear the Coat of Arms and the inscription ‘strictly not for sale’.

The incident happened Wednesday around Manhyia upon the tip-off that a chunk of the mosquito nets which is meant to be distributed freely to the public were been kept at secret location in town.

After a thorough search, the booty was located between the Manhyia Hospital and the old military barracks (Ghana legion) in the Ashanti regional capital.

Addressing the press in Kumasi Thursday, Head of Manhyia Divisional police, Rev. Dr. Nana Nyamekyere Adane said that upon arrest, Mr. Sibi Bay, a Burkinabe said the booty was left in his custody by a man who only gave his name as Alhaji Sana and told him the content of the 46 bales were second hand clothes which were ready to be transported to Neighouring Burkina Faso on Friday.

Dr. Nyamekye Adane explained that investigations further revealed Alhaji has shown a clean pair of heels upon hearing the detention of the booty. He assured the public of frantic efforts to bring the perpetrators to book.
