Police round up 11 suspected criminals

Kumasi, Oct. 16, GNA - The Ashanti Regional Police on Monday rounded up for public identification 11 suspected criminals believed to have been involved in recent criminal activities in the Kumasi Metropolis.

The suspects, whose ages range between 20 and 35 are alleged to have been involved in car snatching as well as other syndicated crimes. At the end of the four-hour parade, two of the suspects were identified for their suspected involvement in a series of robberies in the metropolis.

The two are; Stephen Opoku, 20, unemployed, and Usman Abubakar 24, a taxi driver.

Briefing newsmen after the exercise, Police Inspector Mohammed Yusif Tanko of the Police Public relations Unit, Ashanti, said the two suspects were arrested at Oduom and Santasi, all in Kumasi respectively together with other accomplices on a robbery spree recently. He said with the identification of the two, the police will further investigate their cases and prefer charges against them for prosecution, while other suspects are being screened.

Inspector Tanko entreated the public to expose criminals or persons with shady characters in their vicinities to help reduce the increasing spate of criminal activities in the Metropolis.
