Suhum, Oct. 12, GNA - Two suspected well-known criminals whose names are being withheld by the police were arrested during police special swoop at Suhum at the weekend. The police personnel engaged in the swoop were drawn from three units of the Ghana Police Service, the District Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Panthers Unit and the Armed Detachment Squad, led by the Suhum District Commander of Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Paul Sampson Kontoma and the exercise was aimed at arresting suspected criminals at Suhum.
Briefing the media, DSP Kontoma said the police personnel engaged in the exercise went to the Suhum Methodist School area, Suhum Gariba Zongo and Suhum Roman Catholic Chapel Square area and found some of the criminals in their hide out smoking Indian hemp (Wee). He said at a stage, when the suspects spotted the police, they started throwing stones at the police and the police replied with warning shot which made the suspects to take to their heals but the police gave them a chase and managed to arrest two. He said the two suspects would be put before court after investigatons, adding that, the exercise would continue until the whole Suhum and its surrounding areas have been rid of criminals.
