A porter, Joseph Agbongba was on Wednesday arraigned for robbing one Michael Adjei Danso of his Samsung Galaxy S-7 worth 1,500 dollars.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded by the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh to reappear on May 22.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu told the court that the complainant Michael Adjei Danso is a graphic Designer and resides at Community 25 Tema, while the accused Joseph Agbongba is a porter and resides at Shiashie.

He said on April 28, at about 2000 hours, the complainant was going to the motorway to board a vehicle to Tema on his way in a telephone conversation the suspect who has laid ambush nearby pounced on him and snatched his mobile phone from him.

He said the accused then took to his heels. But the complainant pursued and arrested him.

The prosecution said Joseph managed to push the complainant into a gutter and freed himself from the complainant and bolted.

Mr Adu said the complainant sustained various degrees of injuries and also had his macbook Laptop computer damaged in the process.

During investigation the phone was traced to where the accused was hiding the next day and he was arrested.

He said Joseph was brought to the police station and an official complaint lodged.
