Cape Coast, Feb.1, GNA - A Circuit Court Judge in Cape Coast, Mrs Florence Kai Otu on Monday, urged the public to endeavour to give their utmost respect to the courts of justice and adhere to its rules and procedures. Mrs Otu gave the advice when sentencing one Victoria Baiden to a fin= e of GH¢480.00 for insulting panel members sitting on her case at a Cape Coast magistrate's court.
She asked the public to be circumspect in their utterances and compo= rt themselves when in court. Baiden pleaded guilty to a charge of "insulting the court" and will go to prison for six months in default. Prosecuting, Inspector Christina Sampong told the court that on Thursday, January 28, during a trial of a case between the convict and he= r fianc=E9, at the Cape Coast magistrate's court, she angrily retorted that= "the court is lying in this case". Inspector Sampong said the court referred the case to the police and Baiden was arrested and charged with the offence at the circuit court.
